Ruger has a new rifle

This 'new' Ruger gun is ugly.

However it seems Rambo is buying these days.

I find it amusing that someone with "Savage" in their username calls another gun ugly. I've owned Savages in the past and was often told how hideous they were.

+1 LOL! ;D That's EXACTLY what I was going to say before I read your post! ;D

The RPR is pretty innovative and it is the first action to my knowledge to be built around a chassis. It will be interesting to see what the boys do with it in the future. It is adaptable to other venues and custom barrels will be no problem. My bet is that custom triggers won't be either.

Where else can you get a competitive rifle for long range precision for around $1k?

kudos for Ruger..

I picked up one of these a couple days ago in 6.5CM.
I put a Nikon Monarch 4-16 mildot on it and the setup weighs 13.5lbs (no bipod)

Unfortunately I haven't gotten to shoot it yet.
Hopefully this weekend.
I also picked up 60 rounds of Hornady 140amax factory match.

I've seen people getting good results with this rifle.
I will bring it to my local 1k high power match at the end of August.
That will be the real test.

I could shoot it at 600 this Sunday but I just shot a 1k shoot last weekend.

Only place I see them is Gun Bro-er selling for MSRP. I'll wait until the hype drops down and the price drops. If not, well I'll buy a used piece of junk someone bought for a fortune and then sold to fund this purchase. Cause everyone knows this it THE BOMB.

Where did you find one in stock?

Thanks,

RMD

I live in Tucson AZ and had one in order at a local shop but they had no date for me.
So I called around in Phoenix AZ and found one at Bear Arms in Scottsdale AZ.

Thanks, I'm a long way from AZ, but glad to hear of your success.

Yes the GB guys are capitalizing on the shortages and getting premium prices from the early adopters. Not my game.

I'll wait. A reliably source told me that the distributors' costs from Ruger were $829 on this rifle. I'll accept a reasonable mark-up, but $1499 is not going to happen with me.

My local cabelas had 2 in stock. 1 in 243 and one in 308. Got to handle them both yesterday, and I am very impressed. This rifle might bump something else of of my short list of guns/ gear to get.

They are not listed on Cabelas website. Do you remember what they were charging?

I used to buy things on GB all the time and could find all kinds of smokin deals. But since the last primer shortage and AR craze theres nothing on there but hack sellers with rip off prices. Cant hardly get a good deal on there to save your life these days.

$1100 or 1200 as I recall.

I would be sorely tempted by $100 IF I could find one locally.

Not with shipping and FFL transfer fee though.

That is awesome. I have been wanting something just like that for varmint, truck gun, PRS.

The minimal integrated action is exactly what I wanted to build. I think I would have one ordered if I could get the bolt on the correct side.

I have been wondering when there would be an answer to the modular basement built R700 tatci-cool rifles.... looks like Ruger is getting their feet wet in a cost effective way ...Now if all the aftermarkets follow suit and build more bling for the Ruger platform that will take the rifle to an even greater level of desire.

I handled one yesterday a local shop. Like everyone else who has handled one I was very impressed. Being a Ruger I was expecting a lot less. If the barrels shoot as good as the rest of the rifle they'll have a winner. The local shop has them in sale for $899.99. Their taking deposits on them have 18 sold already. A few have trickled in with no guarantee when the rest will show up.
