ruger #1 value in .218 bee

picked up a ruger #i in 218 bee today on trade,no sights on barrel but it looks heavier than a sporter barrel,trying to figure out what model it is & what it's worth,any help would be appreciated

This combo may someday be a pricey classic. Until then DON'T shoot it, only clean and baby it. Buy a .223 Remington for your really serious shooting. Buy any .218 brass you find to complement your future selling price. cliffy

Depending on condition and if it's one of the early 'red pad' rifles a used Ruger NO 1 in 218 Bee can be had for 600-650.00. Plenty of guys asking big bucks on GB but no bids. There are a lot of shill bids on GB trying to drive the prices up and then Wham...the same rifle comes up for sale 30 days later from the same guy. The 'used' ones that have sold in the last 90days went for aprox. $650.00. I bought mine for 575.00 on GB 6 months ago with original box/paperwork and it looks new. The ones with the Alex Henry forearm bring a premium and can get pretty pricey if the right buyer comes up. If your patient and really search all the options on the net you can get a good deal, if your not, throw your wallet down and get one today!

Usually a short forearm, barrel band, and raised rib for scope rings. The 218 in this config is pretty rare and gets a large premium over the std NO 1B which is what you see most 218's in.

Sounds like you may have a Modified No.1S. They have a heavier barrel than the 1B but had open/iron sights fitted. If the barrel is less than 26' long then the end may have been cut off or the sights removed.

I will NEVER part with mine as it is the most accurate factory rifle I own.

Try the W-W 46HP component projectile for a lovely blend of muzzle velocity/ penetration/expansion.

Any Ruger Model One in stock grade "A" condition is worth $700 or more. Since .218 Bee is now a classic buzz bomb, don't modify it. Easy to devalue any firearm. Cliffy

Ruger #1's are so much fun to shoot.I actually found 300
rounds of W-W .218Bee ammo at Gart Bros years ago on closeout for $10.95per 50,before I even had a .218Bee
needless to say I found a rifle for the ammo later. ;D

As far as I can tell you have a 1s,it looks like a tropical sort of with the alexander henry forearm(forearm should have small radiused groove going one side to the other) These are rare as it can get .I have a mint ..............218 1s,11 grains of 296 with 45 gr hp plhp(remington bullet) is extremely accurate.I shot a chuck at 175 yds plus with my 1894 classic in bee and have shot chucks at extended distance with the #1.Shoot it and just take extrordinary care of it. Enjoy it. They go for way more money than a standard 1b.

I forgot to tell you that in new york state I have seen them go for895.00 and up!
