Rude awakening with a laugh!

Funny Dad moment!
So, for those oh don't know anything about me, I'm an active duty Marine who has come to the end of my carrier. I will soon retire and relocate back home to my farm in Ohio. I am also a single parent with three daughters (pretty sure God hates me! LOL). All three of my daughters do not remember living in Ohio, however have been there hundreds of times. In preparation for retirement, this summer I moved all three girls to my parents farm so they could get settled. My middle daughter started her senior year up there and that was the big factor for the move. I did not want to screw with her senior year of school.

The part that never dawned on me is the fact that non of my children have ever dealt with Ohio weather. These girls have only known nice warm coastal weather for most of their lives. I bet you can guess where this is going!

So, last week I get a phone call at 7:00 am from my middle (17 yrs old) daughter. The conversation went like this!

Daughter- Dad, there is ice on the windshield and I cant see to drive. (frosted that night)
Dad- Okay, well scrape it off! (scraper was on the back seat, my mom put it in there a few nights before. My mom rocks!)
Daughter- How do I do that?
Dad- Did you start the car and turn on the defrost?
Daughter- What's the defrost?
Dad- For the Love of Christ child! ( Sorry for the blasphemy!)
Daughter- Dad I can't take Jenny ( youngest daughter to school 45 mins early) to school.
Dad- Baby, it will be fine. Start the car, turn on the defrost (with explanation), go back in the house and wait 15 mins. All will be fine!
Call ends!

New call!
Daughter- DAD, IT WORKED!
Dad- Yes baby, I know!
Daughter- How could you send me to Ohio without knowing something so important?
Dad- Sorry, didn't think about that with everything else going on!
Daughter- That's okay dad, I still love you and can't wait until you get here!
Dad- I love you and your sisters very much! Have a great day at school!
End calls.

Sometimes, simple little crises turn into the best part of your day! Pretty sure if this is the worst thing I have to deal with, I'm doing just fine.
I know all are wondering if she is a blonde, but no she is not! LOL

Tell her that there will be several days that start off with the furnace blaring and end up with the air conditioning running. Or the wild seasonal temperature swings, I've seen it as cold as -30 degrees (before Christmas in 1993) or as hot as +112 degrees (around 1987 or so). Springs have been "unusual" the last few years, March and April have been warmer than May. This past October was the second wettest on record, tell her if she doesn't like the weather, just wait a while it will soon change.

I used to drive truck up in that area and on up through Rochester NY, if the lake doesn't get an ice cap the snow is brutal.
That stretch of 90 is brutal in the winter I’ve had some white knuckle rides between Buffalo and Cleveland I live in the NE Ohio snowbelt and I dislike it more with every passing year

My kids were shocked having to wear "real" shoes when we moved to Florida from the Virgin Islands.
They were totally appalled having to wear jackets when we moved from Florida to Washington State.....

My wife says that any young lady in her senior year of high school, that drives her little sister to school in snow country without giving dad an attitude, might just appreciate a remote starter from Santa.

Sounds like a sweetheart.
She is not wrong! Thats the funny part, she is driving my old Audi. If you know anything about German cars, non of them are made with remote starts. for some reason it is a law in German. LOL
