Funny Dad moment!
So, for those oh don't know anything about me, I'm an active duty Marine who has come to the end of my carrier. I will soon retire and relocate back home to my farm in Ohio. I am also a single parent with three daughters (pretty sure God hates me! LOL). All three of my daughters do not remember living in Ohio, however have been there hundreds of times. In preparation for retirement, this summer I moved all three girls to my parents farm so they could get settled. My middle daughter started her senior year up there and that was the big factor for the move. I did not want to screw with her senior year of school.
The part that never dawned on me is the fact that non of my children have ever dealt with Ohio weather. These girls have only known nice warm coastal weather for most of their lives. I bet you can guess where this is going!
So, last week I get a phone call at 7:00 am from my middle (17 yrs old) daughter. The conversation went like this!
Daughter- Dad, there is ice on the windshield and I cant see to drive. (frosted that night)
Dad- Okay, well scrape it off! (scraper was on the back seat, my mom put it in there a few nights before. My mom rocks!)
Daughter- How do I do that?
Dad- Did you start the car and turn on the defrost?
Daughter- What's the defrost?
Dad- For the Love of Christ child! ( Sorry for the blasphemy!)
Daughter- Dad I can't take Jenny ( youngest daughter to school 45 mins early) to school.
Dad- Baby, it will be fine. Start the car, turn on the defrost (with explanation), go back in the house and wait 15 mins. All will be fine!
Call ends!
New call!
Daughter- DAD, IT WORKED!
Dad- Yes baby, I know!
Daughter- How could you send me to Ohio without knowing something so important?
Dad- Sorry, didn't think about that with everything else going on!
Daughter- That's okay dad, I still love you and can't wait until you get here!
Dad- I love you and your sisters very much! Have a great day at school!
End calls.
Sometimes, simple little crises turn into the best part of your day! Pretty sure if this is the worst thing I have to deal with, I'm doing just fine.
I know all are wondering if she is a blonde, but no she is not! LOL
