RRA LAR-8 Varmint

Hey guys, i'm new here, been shooting since I was little, reloding for a couple of years and am just getting into the long range business.

So I just bought this .308. I love it is shooting 1/2 MOA at 100yrds no problem. However, I am having some casing issues with my load.

Load: 168grn a-max, 43.8 grns of 4064, 2.800" OAL, CCI BR2 Primers.

Avg Velocity: 2808
SD: 7.1
VS:15

Problem: Head on casing is getting damage from ejector, and sometimes primer is getting kicked out of casing.

Spoke with my local class 3 dealer and he said that maybe my load was too hot, or I needed a bigger gas tube. His idea was that the bolt was kicking to early, thus creating too much pressure on the eject. I like this load I think that it is going to be a thousand yard keeper, but I dont like the messed up casing and I really dont want to tear my rifle up. Lemme know what you think.

I had a DPMS in .308 with a 24" stainless barrel that did the same thing. I tried an adjustable gas block and that helped a bit. If I ran hot loads my brass always showed some damage after. With an AR you have to tune the rifle and the load to work together without beating each other to death, I found it wasn't my cup of tea and sold it.

My Rem 740 30-06 has been hard on brass since I got it, it doesn't matter if they are factory or handloads. I think it's just part of owning a semi auto.

I have also tried the Tubb Carrier Weight System. They claim it will prevent your gun from opening faster and doing that. I can not say forsure if it will fix your problem. I use one and move it to all of my AR rifles. I do know when I use it recoil is much smoother. I have not noticed better brass life. I get quite a few reloads for each cassing.

I would suggest either dropping your charge by .5gr. or switching to a slower burning powder that has a smoother pressure curve.
