Rorschach Dies
Don Rorschach made some very nice bullet making dies. A gentleman on BR Central was asking if he still made dies. Hard to believe that nobody answering the guy didn't mention Don has been dead a number of years. Don had no employees so his death ended the dies. There is a an excellent bullet making article Don wrote for Precision Shooting Mag. July 1986. The article can also be found in The Benchrest Shooting Primer page 177-183. Good read. Technical material.
I have a set of Rorschach 22 dies along with a set on Simonsen 6 dies. Funny every time a question on bullet making comes up how many run the hobby down comparing it to watching paint drying on the wall among other stupid analogies. Like chambering barrels. The equipment to set up to do barrels is expensive and could be done by another smith. Bullet making is an art. To make good bullets is something to be proud of. The drawbacks of making bullets is the cost of setting up and the time involved.
One Poster talked about bullet making being easy obviously he doesn't make bullets. Another poster talked about the learning curve in making bullets. Folks there is a learning curve in anything. In bullet making reading and having another bullet making bud gets a person on track sooner. Like anything else bullet making allows one to keep learning so I would say the real learning curve goes on as long as you make bullets. Telling a bullet maker he is wasting his time and would be cheaper to buy ready made is like telling the guy that cuts his own grass and keeps up his yard he could get it done easier by hiring an illegal. Some people like to roll their own, bullet making is one of my parts of the shooting game I can enjoy doing. All the comments I listed except mine are made by people who claim they have never made bullets.
