That bench and cigar box reminds me so much of my childhood, reloading 222 with a fella named Bill Morgan that only ever gave me one piece of shooting advice: “practice, practice, practice.”I am making up my first batch of 500 on my new dies.
Everything View attachment 1317628is looking real good. The shank is coming out not quite a “tenth“ over .243 With a .0004 base.
One of these days youll finally load up that 2015 into an ar and go do some mag dumps to get rid of itI spent the morning at Tomball trying out my first batch out of bullets out of my new Rorschach Dies.
it was a bright sunny day, a front had come through, humidity was in the 30% range. That is really dry for the Gulf Coast area. That meant tuning 133 might be a challenge. Super low humidity means upper load window.
I finally worked up to 30.5 grns, with the bullets just in to the lands., At this point, it really came to life. This might seem like a really hot load, but it is one of the ways to get133 to shot in really low humidity conditions.
Shooting in a gentle right to left, these are the best two five shot groups I shot.
I switched over to some old original 2015BR, which is a little faster, and could not duplicate the performance of 133.
But the bullets are obviously top notch. Or at least 10 of them were.
These dies really make a nice looking bullet.

That wasnt the first thing to go through my mind....lolmag dumps
Actually the shape and size of the bullet hole is how you judge if a gun is in tune or not1 shot groups are not a test of bullet performance .. lol ..
Dusty, in usual Benchrest Shooter fashion, I did not post pictures of the groups that were not nearly as “Photogenic” as these two, LOL.Actually the shape and size of the bullet hole is how you judge if a gun is in tune or not

The bullets are darned good. But they still go exactly where the wind pushes them.
