Update : Took rifle to gun smith he knocked it out with proper size steel rod. My extractor was broken ,now awaiting delivery of new parts from T/C no charge they're covered by factory warranty. Thumbs up for T/C !

A steel rod won't mushroom on brass. It just gets beat up a bit so jags and brushes won't thread in.

Been there and done that. My stainless cleaning rod did. (.204" in a .22 bore) Luckily I pulled it out for a look see before it was too late. If you must beat the hell out of one, drill rod would be my first choice. Later! Frank

I keep a GI cleaning kit for just such emergencies. Problem with most cleaning rods today is they are too flexible to beat on if carbon fiber and too expensive to beat on if stainless steel. Packing tape makes a good protective surface for the steel rod and it's stiff enough to transmit all the energy from a brass hammer to the inside fo the stuck case. The "T" handle makes for a good place to hold and also keeps the end of the rod from "mushrooming". If you want to protect the threads in the end of the rod just install a brass cleaning jag. The "point" will also keep the rid centered in the case, especially with larger calibers.

Just remember, if all the energy is being sucked up in a flexible rod then chances are you aren't getting any energy into the case to dislodge it.

Haha..ive been there a few times ive even ripped the ring of brass off the case head no way it was coming out.
I keep an assortment of wooden dowls around .
Drop one down your barrel and smack it with a hammer..it will pop out..

Even though this is an old thread, this may be a useful warning to a lot of the new shooters that has been reading this site. With 75,000 members, a bunch of them have to be inexperienced shooters and reloaders.

Take a can of chewing gum remover ( small spray can with a small nozzle) and spray the case head while using the cleaning rod method. The spray will freeze the case causing it to contract and make removal easier.
