rockchucker primers and primer debris every where when decapping

I have a vintage 1973 Rockchucker with the primer slot in the front the length of the ram.

I cut out a plastic cottage cheese container that attaches to the primer catcher in the front. This adds three inches in height to the front of the primer catcher.

Last night I was using a universal depriming die on some crimped Lake City 5.56 cases. And the primer crimp added more escape velocity and they were jumping over the plastic deflector.

The secret to the primer mess is to keep a broom and vacuum cleaner in the reloading area. ;)

Besides the primer cups on the floor give my cats something to play with.

I have did a two part fix on this. A trip to the hardware store for some neodymium magnets which I glued to the bottom of the original catcher so that when the ram raised the magnets cause the primer catcher to pull forward snug against the ram and a old arrow (plastic drinking straw would work) inserted into the ram tube to prevent the primers from jumping out the front. A notch on the back directs the primer into the catcher. If I had it to do over I would use rectangular magnets and glue them to the sides of the catcher but this solved 99 % of my problem. I have a small shop vac I use to empty the catcher and suck up any stray debris

Yesterday I received my Primer Catcher for my old RC press. .....
I've been able to provide Mike (The German) with three alternatives for using the Primer Catcher on the old-style RC press in conjunction with the Case Kicker attachment. Yes, the Case Kicker's chute does get in the way a bit but it can be worked around.

Here's the decapping rig I made using an RCBS Partner Press, metal tube in the ram to guide them out easily with minimal residue mess, PVC pipe to fit close against the ram then into a pill bottle. Mounted on 3/4 inch particle board that clamped to the bench wherever:
