RL17 load data for 6x47 L with 108 Bergers

Anyone tried RL-17 in the 6x47 Lapua using either 105 or 108 Bergers and has some load data to share?

I managed to snag one pound of RL-17 and looking forward to trying it. In my two 6x47's I have used RL-19 and 4350 and although it shot groups that were okay, I've never really been satisfied. Hoping this works out.

thanks

Bob

Bob, I think if you come down 2 grains from the 6XC data in my article you'll have a good place to start.

Last night I shot 40grs of RL17 and 108 bergers in my new BARTLEIN BARREL in 6 X 47 lap 271 nk with no pressure signs and had some nice groups,.188-.228) back to back,at 100yds.This is a brand new barrel with a total of 27rds thru it and already shooting small,Many Thanks to the Bartlein Team!!

German and Matt many thanks for the info.

I will start working on some loads very soon on my two competition 6x47L's. First I'm going to test my new Deer and Coyote gun a 6.5x55 SM in a Sako 75 Finnlite. I've worked up some RL17 loads for it and going to range this weekend.

I'll let you know the results.

thanks
Bob

Matt,

Thanks for your report. We've heard some guys say, with RL17, the speed is there, but the accuracy is not. There's some evidence emerging that the standard profile bullets might work better with this powder than VLDs with shorter bearing surface. I'm also wondering... what neck tension are you running?

This powder is so new, we're not sure what to recommend re primers, neck tension etc.

I can't find any RL 17 but a friend of mine told me to try 203B Norma and man does it shoot well in my 6x47.

Thanks for the report. For those not familiar with Norma 203B it is very, very similar to Reloder 15,same mfg.). It may be oh so slightly slower than RL15 and, perhaps) a bit more uniform. In my 6BR, Norma 203B showed a very wide, forgiving accuracy window.

Has anyone compared RL 17 with any of the VV5xx double base powders? My 6mm BR really likes N540, and N560, in my 6.5-284, has shown the same sort of velocity increase over H4831SC people talk about for RL 17, but the accuracy load seems to be well below the max. If RL 17 is somewhere between H4350 and H 4831, it sounds like the burn rate is similar to N550.
