RL16 and 243

Reason for asking is that I just purchased some 2nd gen ( the newest ones ) and I'm going to try them with RL-16 and H-4350. But in Creedmoor, yea I know. o_O

Actually there is the 1st gen unpointed, 2nd gen pointed, 3rd RBT (rebated boat tail).

These were unpointed and honestly I thought the pointed were the first gen just pointed and the RBT's were the gen 2.... when I got the rifle up and going I bought 2 boxes of 500ct Berger 105's so truth didn't pay a mess of attention to the DTac bullets. I put together a 243LBC bolt rifle and it shoots the 95SMK's like the guy driving the rifle knows what he's doing lol so thought I'd pump up the 243 with a heavier bullet so found the 115 DTac's and thought why not! now just sorta wish I'd have tried them sooner.

I've been shooting the DTAC's since early '07. Started with the unpointed. They shot great out of my Competition Match. When the pointed came along they were even better. I have a new Competition Match barrel I haven't screwed on yet, it's my 3rd barrel. I have enough pointed to wear the barrel out. The next one will have the RBT. I've been shooting a .243 X-Caliber pre fit 8 twist for PRS type shooting, 105 Hornaday bthp. Shoots plenty good and fast for steel. If it was a 7-7.5 twist it would be getting DTAC's. I'm in Florida, low elevation.

I found myself with a pound of RL16 and while I normally load H4831SC I was wondering about this powder with the heavier bullets like 115 DTAC mainly as I also have some of them. I have been shooting the Berger 105's since I put this barrel on the rifle and let's just say curiosity has gotten the best of me. From the searching I have done I've not found much besides some folks are using H4350 data for the RL16 and did find some load data on the Alliant page for the 105's but that's about it.

I guess to the point has anyone played with the RL16 and the 110 or 115gr bullets and can offer a bit of direction for the straight ol' plain Jane 243 Win?

Long story on the short I put together a 243LBC and it has been shooting the 95 and 105's amazing so figure the 243 has a few more cubic inches may as well step it up with the heavier bullets. Thanks for your time fella's!

Works best with heavier bullets. Rifle twist in mine keeps me down to 100/105gr
