RL15.5 Pressure Curve Comparison

Just wanted to post my results for RL15.5, in comparison to other popular powders, to give a better idea where to start percentage wise..
Both rifles handle pressure well so load down from my starting points, or if you already have a load with one of the slower powders, you should be able to use this to give a more accurate starting point when trying 15.5.
My reason for running these pressure tests with the 6.5 creed is due to almost being out of BR4’s and old lot of H4350, so knowing that this receiver doesn’t get along with either 450’s or 205’s, I wanted to see if any of the powder choices would change that..
Looking at the target, I was very impressed with how well the 15.5 held POI shift, from 40.1-41.3. I will load some of this area and shoot a ladder at 600yds once I get a calm day.
Varget seems to be the looser of the 4, which is usually my experience when testing this “go to powder”. Lol
I shot a group with my old load to make sure everything still looked good, before starting the test. This rifle has always avg mid 2’s or better at 100yds. All the data is on the target..

The 300saum IMP will handle the same powders and I have already posted those results on @GlennK thread but figured It would be useful here as well. These tests were ran at 200yds with 185 juggernauts.

I had a Crow load in 6mm Remington with 58 VMax and 48.0 Varget. Shot really well at 4020 from a 26" barrel. My experience is that Varget performs best just under max pressure. I would like to try some 15.5 if I ever saw any for sale.

Those data are very useful to develop a powder model for the RL15.5

Next is modeling RL15.5

Local reloading store had some recently and they're usually the last (past 2-3 yrs) to get any Alliant powders. Things are looking up. No 4198 though...

Hoot

just keep your eyes and ears open. you will see a post last week where i bought both 15 and 15.5!
I saw some at Precision on 2-22-23. It was 389 for 8 pounds. I did not need any so I passed. Did not like the price much either when you add on shipping and hazmat but it may get worse before or gets better unless things change.

you just have to decide for YOU what is more important, fun or money in the bank.
