RL 15

Im late to the party, but yes. I shoot it - I had a bunch of loads that shot great with Varget but wanted to do some more fiddling. I run 30.8 RL15 in my 6BR with a 105 VLD, BR4 primers. Might be a little stout for some actions so work up. I'm getting the sweet spot 2980fps with this load and it's shot good out to 1000. Haven't shot it past that.

Wow that's up in Dasher territory!
Not really. The 6 Dasher can do much more with the right powder and a bit more with RL15 or Varget.
The Dasher generally likes around 3020-3050 FPS, around here anyway, and that takes about 31.6 (or close) Varget. I shot last year's 1,000 Yard Nationals with Alliant 200-MR. The 105 Hybrid was making 3186 FPS from 28" 5R barrel. Not good for barrel life but it can get to the 1,000 target with authority.
Also, just my opinion, OmegaRed is likely somewhere that doesn't have the heat stroke weather we have down here in The South. RL-15 can be a tad "moody" in high heat and humidity.

It seems to me that RE15 is more popular in the south. Those IBS group and score aggegate records were shot at Harry Jones with RE15 in the heat. He only shot them Spencer bullets at 2980. Matt

Here in Alabama the temp can swing from 70˚ in the AM to 100˚ in the afternoon. Let's not even factor in the humidity levels.
That would drive me nuts trying to keep RL15 in tune. Is Harry Jones at higher altitude? Most of my shooting is no higher than 450' ASL and that makes a difference too. The changeable weather conditions here are why I don't shoot the 2000-MR all the time, even though it do well at lower altitude at last year's 1,000 Yard Nationals.

I am not sure what elevation Harry Jones is at, it is in Western West Viginia. I know Whitehorse isn't far away and at 2012 Nationals it was hotter then I liked. Missouri in 2013 was 100 degrees and 100 percent humidity, it seemed difficult to even breathe. Lots of guys shoot Re15 in the south, Including Georgia and Texas. It is way more popular down there, up here most shoot Varget. Matt

Filthy stuff; just bore scoped a brand new Brux barrel with 80 pills down the pipe with RL15 and I have a big carbon ring already. BUT - it will shoot.

never get too excited about speed, I ran the Spencer at 3100 and it didn't do a thing but slow them down and put them to sleep and good things happen. When the holes get small and the wind doesn't seem to affect them as much is more important plus they shoot in tiny groups on the targets. RL-15 is my choice but H4895 and Varget are right there also...... Jim

HJ is approx 1025 ASL at Benches, ~ 1400 ASL at boards

I LOVE the accuracy of RL15 in the BR and Dasher, but I wish I had understood it's stability better. I had three Dashers built over the winter and did load work ups this spring. Im now getting ejector marks, even after reducing the loads as far down as 31.8 grains. POI seems to shift from day to day and groups seem to be opening up.

Temps are around 86 degrees and 80% humidity.

If I'm doing something wrong please let me know!

I ran 33.5 with a 103 at 99 degrees without issues, you need to go back and recheck everything....... Jim
What would I check? I've done load work ups several times on them already.

Respectfully I've never been able to get close to 33.5 of any type of power in a dasher without issue. My 4th Dasher uses 32.1 of Varget and much higher starts to get sticky bolt (made by another smith).
