Rimfire Tuners

Appears to me that screwing the tuner in or out to find the lowest point of impact may be beneficial (as mentioned positive compensation)? If so, is this the equal to or related to seating depth in center fire? The benefit of center fire over rim fire being we can lengthen dwell period with charge weight? Would this then be the equal to testing different lots of ammo? This has been my focus when testing now. Could this be why when I've found a sweet spot for seating depth, the powder charge matters less?
What little experience I had with frequency analysis escapes me. Reminds me of playing with an oscilloscope, I need to get my thinking in gear.
Gunsandgunsmithing, thanks for the recap. It's either coming together or falling apart here for me.
Tryin to get me my thinker goin. I suppose charge weight = magnitude and not related to dwell, not unlike a metronome, in that longer sweeps can be held in the same rhythm as short, just faster?
Timing is everything.

I'm not sure I follow you...The thing to remember is that amplitude and frequency are independent of one another but I do believe that a longer arc(higher amplitude) is beneficial to tune window. Clear as mud?

Scott, are the stiller tuners setup like the Harrells to where it will except bloop tube?
Sorry for the slow reply, but my friend John jumped in and answered the question correctly. I am not a regular here, nor do I post on tuner threads very often. I just have some experience with a couple different brands and posted on the thread for basic information as to types/brands.

The outer bell is threaded for a tube, as John explained, but the inner tube of the tuner is not threaded for adding an extension for PRX "junkies".

Shooting at various distances, do you tune for the furthest?
NRL 100 yards.
Or, is it better to tune at say 50? I ask because other “things “ such as wind will have more effect at 100 than 50.

Also curious as to what the glue on folks are doing and using for glue. I see the glue possibly acting as a damper, much like the rubber on a harmonic balancer. Could be a positive or negative result.
Thread answered a fair amount of my questions. Am sure I will have more.

I would tune the rifle for the distance you're intending to shoot. From what I've seen it'll be different. I shoot mainly 50yds so I tune for it. The limited 100yd shooting I've done with a tuner each time benefited from adjusting the tuner. Not saying I've found tune at 100 each time but have certainly seen the improvement. Its tough at 100 due to mainly conditions & of course the added distance.
I've only glued one tuner on using Locktite Super Glue Gel. I had a slight interference fit between the tuner & barrel. Hasn't budged. I was using a tuner I made otherwise don't see the need for it as all I'd seen just clamp on the barrel.

These are coming soon. The one pictured is a prototype but the biggest difference in it and the finished product is there will be numbers engraved rather than just hash marks for reference. Tuner itself weighs right at 5 ounces.

The two bagged parts are adapters for either 5/8-24 or 1/2-28 threaded muzzles.
I have adapters and hope to have the new tuners on hand in a couple of weeks.
I also offer clamp on adapters for those applications. ---Mike

if I missed it I am sorry. Are these available yet.

nothing too fancy. Just a CZ 457 rig
Also plan to use on on my 6.5x47 or just buy another for that.

I hear you but at this point for me the price does not concern me.
I hope that I didn't miss your call today. Wouldn't change much, as UPS wouldn't come down my rd. I'm hoping to start shipping again tomorrow. I even graded my own hwy. It was probably in better shape than any rd they'd been on all day . I heard that Powder Valley is in the same boat.

Sorry Sir, it was a hectic day today. I will certainly call tomorrow.

I ended up getting the Kinetic Security Solutions ATS for my Bergara B14R. Did some testing with SK Rifle Match this past weekend and it definitely makes a difference. I found a couple nodes that work well. Now I need to work on my rest setup so I'm not the problem with fliers.
