Rimfire barrel bedding - yes or no?

None of my center fire match rifles have any bedding under any part of the barrel. What is the consensus regarding .22 rimfire match rifles barrel bedding. Or not.
Rifle in question is a Winchester 52C circa 1956.
Thanks, Mike T.

I've always had way better luck free floating any barrel with it be a centerfire or a rimfire rifle.

I only bed any of the barrel if the barrel is particularly heavy or the action itself doesn't have a great deal of bedding area. You should be fine just bedding the action...

I think the replies you've got are on the mark. I've seem a lot of rimfire benchrest and 3Prifles in the last 20 years, All the benchrest rifles I have seen had free floating barrels and 99% of the 3P. Only if you have too light an action for the barrel would I do the barrel. I have heard of a few bedding the barrel and leaving the action float but have never seen one. The benchresters would jump on any new idea in a second if it really showed promise.
