RIMFIRE AMMO

jonbearman

I live in new york state, how unfortunate !
Anyone seen any possible deals on plinking ammo.I saw on one site that rem thunderbolts are going for 19.95 per box of 50.Any help appreciated.

Walmart only stocks the ammo during the nightshift. Gotta be there between 6 and 8 a.m. for the ammo deals. Sportsman Guide is getting there Thunderbolts soon, if you want to buy by the case.

Moderate amount of .22 in the local mom & pop shops in this area. Picked up a brick of CCI standard velocity and a 525 rd. box of Fed plinking, 34.95 and 31.95 respectively. They are limiting to one or two bricks though.

Might check Cabela's that just announced their big annual sale. They have Winchester Super X 40 gr $7 per 100.

NOTHING was available on site at Cabelas. Just checked about 15 minutes ago. DRAT

It would appear that since I posted that info, Cabelas has sold out of rimfire ammo like every other vendor. I literally went from website to website last night (including all my usual sources for Rimfire ammo) and they all show "OUT OF STOCK". I'm not much into conspiracy theories, but what the heck is going on? Gotta wonder whose behind all these components and finished cartridges suddenly drying up and on back order. I feel confident it isn't the manufacturers or vendors.

Shynloco, I put three days a week in at two gun clubs. Tactical Timmy AR shooting has basically dried up and been replaced by the .22 rimfire. I used to here boom boom boom ad infinitum. Now it's pop pop pop. ;D
Seventy five cents and up a round versus four to seven cents.

Evenin Hog,

I hear ya my friend. But at the rate we're going, you may not even have to invest much in ear plugs as silence is awefully quiet. And that is what is becoming increasingly a concern for all of us. Some idiot(s) is trying to make that a reality.

Regards!

Got a Natchez sale flyer in the mail a few days ago--Wolf Extra on Sale--great! Went on their website--out of stock, just like last week! Jerks!

My son picked me up a box of Stingers and a box of Velocitors at Sportsmans Salt Lake yesterday. Meanwhile here [Rock SPrings] I saw three guys sittin in lawn chairs at the gun counter waitin on ammo to show up..

My LGS had CCI Green Tag out today. About 15 or so boxes of 100. Marked at 18.95 or so. I am not that desperate yet. Still have 2000 or so rounds in my stash. PM if you want info. Sounded very high to me.

Just see 4 of the Federal 550's listed for sale on 24hr campfire.....for only.......ya ready?..........$75box......but limited to 1 per for now :)

Sure glad I don't have to go looking for anything gun related! Had to pay a bit more for BCG's for a couple of AR projects I had uppers/lowers etc for so that kinda hurt but figured complete rifles was worth more than just the parts so I broke down. Was going to do it last fall but gave money to Sis instead to help with bills for her kidney transplant etc. Otherwise I would have been fat and happy with what I have on hand.

NO, I am not a hoarder! I am 'prepared' and thinking ahead, espcially with my location. Been prepared for 20yrs just so I wouldn't have to 'buy stupid' when things were hard to get. Got down to 8K of primers during the 94 scare and felt pretty stupid for my mistakes so......lesson learned even moreso thereafter!

My guess is the cheap blasting ammo will never return to below $20! Last time it wasn't this bad and it still never returned to the $10bx we were all accustomed to paying. Material and labor cost has risen I know but don't think any of it ever got under $16ish unless Wallyworld had a sale etc. Thinking the norm will be $20-25 if/when supply catches up. Primers stayed above $25 for the majority in these parts after 08. Manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers have awakened to the desperation, unpreparededness and borderline stupidity of the live in the moment, I will buy it when I need it consumer and will increase profits because of them. Might even get lazy on production capacity to keep it more profitable now that they see how most operate when supply dwindles.

Just my worthless .02 cent take on it though and am sure those who fit the 'buy it when you need it' description will have some rather 'harsh' comments to my post! :) Spend your money on expensive meals at Olive Garden, buy other crap you don't need like jewelry, cell phones, Ipads or.... buy ammo when it is cheap, to each their own!

Respectfully,
Dennis

Went to one of my local haunt gunshops yesterday to see if they had any 17HM2 ammo. They had plenty @ 9.99 a box plus 6% for the governor (PA).

Remember when the Smith brothers tried to corner the silver market. They lost control and the market crashed. That was similar to what's going on at the moment. A few thousand slugs and some others without principal, that don't have to go to work everyday are buying all the ammo for resale at a 200% markup. Juist don't buy it and they will panic and sell. These are not soffisticated business people, there just playing the walmart game trying to corner the market. Ignore them and the market will crash.

The end is nigh.... :o

The end of the shortage that is... Things are starting to loosen up a little in the stores around here. Still selling out quickly but more frequent shipments seem to be happening...

This too shall pass.

That was the Hunt brothers. The Smith brothers tried to corner the cough drop market but wound up swallowing their losses. ;D

I expect things to loosen up a bit in the coming months, however the prices on ammo will probably be inflated for a time. I'm not going to pursue ammo or sit by a counter waiting on a possible brick of .22's. I'm going to do what I've always done, if I see some ammo at a fair price I'll buy it. I guess I could be waiting for awhile but I'm in no hurry to be overcharged.

I went to a local gun show the other day and saw Federal 525 Box selling for $70- 100.00 a piece. ;D Yeah, I passed.

Midway had standard velocity remmy yesterday for $34 a brick. One brick limit. I got one order so my boys can still plink. Gone in hours.
