Rifling in CZ 550: Borescope Pics

I've never owned or scoped a CZ 550 but I've had and scoped numerous CZ 527's and though they have all shot well, none of them looked as good as the OP's CZ barrel. In fact, all the CZ 527's I've scoped actually looked quite bad, but like I said, they still seem to shoot well and I guess that's really all that matters.

I like my 550 American in 243 so much that one of my 243s went down the road and another is getting rebarreled to 6XC.

So you definitely ain't not liking them.

The barrel in my 452 (22 mag) looks similar, but I did find a few faint rings around the circumference of the bore. To my untrained eye, they seem like tooling marks that weren’t ironed out by the hammer forging process. Getting the borescope definitely helped my cleaning regimen, but I wish I could un-see those little grooves. The gun shoots really well either way

Hammer forged CZ barrels arn't pretty. My CZ457 had drill marks in the grooves in a 3" section about 6" from the chamber. It shoots well. If they shoot good and feel uniform when you run apatch down the bore that is what counts.

If you’re asking if it’s normal for an EXTREMELY long lead/throat, the answer is YES with your 9.3x62 chamber. That would be CIP specs vs SAAMI, and the CIP version of that European chamber has a long lead/throat, likely 3/4” or more. I have a chamber reamer (CIP spec) that cuts an identical throat.

Shoots everything I load into a ragged hole. Even with a throat so long I can't get anywhere near the lands. LOL I'll try to get the video to load. Hopefully it comes through clear.

Just curious, why are you concerned if the rifle shoots "into a ragged hole"?

As my old man use to say, "Don't borrow trouble."

PS: If you're into horror movies (video's) I can recommend some good ones and you don't need a borescope.

That's a very good looking factory barrel. Run it. I don't care for that angled camera view, but that is just me. I don't ever expect a Rem or any other barrel to look like a premium barrel. We all hope for it, but not realistic I suppose. I think you got lucky with the one you have.

Thanks for the input! I learned it is cold hammer forged and a 5R type rifling! I am in love with the gun all over again!
