rifle scope on pistol ?

I'm dealing with a T/C 14" in .223Rem and was considering trying a rifle scope just to get some more magnification than most pistol scopes offer to help some old eyes. Has anyone tried this? Any advice ? I have a nice Vari X II in 4-12x I thought I'd try. Thanks.

As mentioned before--Have right at it, it's not a problem, but will spoil you for any
future pistol scopes 'O)
