Rifle rest cases

Where can I get a case for my front rest? How doyou guys transport your front rests? I have a Bald Eagle front rest and I put it on a steel plate and now it is too big to fit in most cases. Any suggestions?

I have done that also, but now I put a base plate on my rest to add weight and stability and it won't fit in anything I own. I may have to find a fab shop and have them make a case......

I made a range box out of one of those big plastic totes boxes you can get at Wal-mart. I can put everything I will need except my spotting scope in this box . I put my spotting scope in a plastic tool box. The scope and small tripod fit in the top tool tray and I can put a cleaning kit in the bottom. My hunting buddy uses one of the smaller plastic boxes that are tool chest that are to fit in the bed of a small pick up truck.

What I did is order a large Pelican,1650) without foam. It's about 30x20x11. Comes with wheels and an extension handle. I then bolted a sized piece of 1/2" plywood to the inside bottom. To that plywood, I cut slots and secured heavy duty velcro straps used toward the ends of the legs. Also, drilled out locator holes for the leveling screws to fit in - very solid. Since your rest is on a plate, you could probably drill that plate and mount some studs through the plywood - then use wingnuts to secure.

If you're not familiar with Pelican, they're built like a brick sh*t-house, and waterproof to boot. Spendy, but they should last forever.

You'll have a lot of space left over. I have plenty of room for the Gator rear bag and spacer, snake, elbow pad, towel, muffs, shooting glasses, level, tools and ammo. The rear bag is secured by more velcro straps and I found a couple small plastic boxes that I screwed to the plywood to hold the ammo and misc. Even had room to mount the 20x60x80mm spotting scope and compact tripod too.

Only a couple of drawbacks that I've found. That puppy is heavy! Also, the wheels are small enough that they don't work well on gravel, but it sure works good on hard surfaces.

In the 2008A Sinclair catalog, page 127, there is a "Benchrest Travel Case" at $99.70. I saw one at a match this summer, and it is neat. Holds the front rest, rear sand bag, and a few extras. You may need to remove a little foam to suit your needs. Light weight and nice to carry with the handle3s on top. It is on my wish list.

I use a rubbermaid tote called tuff-tote there in sporting goods at wal-mart cost is $18.00 works great i put my rest, rear bag everything else in it it's great put a piece of plywood in the bottom they will last forever hope this helps
