your welcomeThanks so much for an enjoyable post. I predict you have made a better day for many a reader.
I don't care what caliber or brand gun you go with but please post your progress. It's so nice to see and be a part of such a beautiful experience even if only through a keyboard and monitor.
That sounds like a good option ,thanksI had an after thought that might interest you. How about taking a 223 and turning it into a 6x45 (6x223) pretty much the same powder load as the 223 with about the same felt recoil. Plenty of omgf for deer and accurate as a laser, install on a model 12 Savage and she is pretty much set for life.
Best of all it should be legal in all 50 states.
Nsalm nice looking rifle, you did a good job.
I would suggest a barreled action from Brownells, Howa mini action 762×39 . you could upgrade to a better barrel if needed. Savage type Prefit/ barrel nut. Brownells walnut stock, piller bed Freefloat, talley lightweight rings/ no lapping they are perfect. Rifle basics 1 lb trigger, new bottom metal.I am wanting to build (or put together) a rifle with my young deer hunting daughter, something that she could look back at in 40 yrs and say "I built that with my daddy".
I was thinking of the following,
Savage rifle
barrel swap(just for the experience)
light recoiling caliber
aftermarket trigger
Boyds stock
lapping of scope rings
any suggestions or tips would be appreciated, oh yes, low cost is good
Last thing I would start her with is a Savage action. Rough working no good trigger options. Easiest would be a Tika then have stock shortened or better yet get an aftermarket stock and the two of you refinish it as a project you will both enjoy and give her lasting memories. Pick any caliber, you can load down with appropriate bullets and have light recoil . As she reaches adulthood you can put the original stock back on or have it fitted to her at that point. Now she has a rifle she can start her children with.I am wanting to build (or put together) a rifle with my young deer hunting daughter, something that she could look back at in 40 yrs and say "I built that with my daddy".
