Rifle Consolidation?

Switch barrels make more sense in some Euro countries where they tax the heck out of you per annum on each rifle you have registered. No politics here just a fact. I read on a forum where some guy in Turkey has to pay like 1500us a year in tax but not on barrels.

I see the OP's point... quality over quantity. I'm on that curve, just a bit earlier.

Switch barrels seem similar to multiple AR uppers. You eventually buy more lowers and defeat the original intent. Least that is what happens to me.

On that note, I do see the value of moving optics between guns, so maybe a switch barrel isn't too far off.

One great short action, one great trigger, one great scope, and stock, 4-6 barrels per action.

Repeat on a long action

Repeat on a mag action

By now, you have different stocks for different barrel configurations!

This is all Very normal, and you are saving a LOT of money!

Then you may down size, again!

Hint: Don't let dirt Dobblers make mud nests in the bores!

Golf tees in the barrel stops that.

Sure appreciate that tid bit!

I bought an electric zapper that looks like a tennis racket, love frying those little Bas.....

If you are going to go down this path, make sure that whichever action you choose will take prefit barrels. I personally shoot Impact Precision actions for this reason. Note I say "actions".

I started out with a similar plan. I now have multiple actions. One of those I do actually change barrels on. The other two are my match and practice rifles. Those only get changed when the barrel is used up.

The action I switch barrels on goes back and forth between a couple calibers and a couple barrel profiles depending on what I am doing at the time. It currently has a lighter 6.5 barrel on it, I will probably switch it to a heavier 6mm barrel to use as a loaner gun.

The key is all actions are the same and any barrel can be used on any action. Bolts are interchangeable as well.
