If you sharpie in the extractor groove you can walnut tumble it for 2 weeks and not remove it.

I've noticed that if you write on a case with a magic marker, then heat it, the marks are hard to remove with any solvents. What about using a metal marking engraving pen, the ones that vibrate?

I actually tried that but didn’t have much luck. Wasn’t crazy about digging into the case wall. Need to figure out some sort of etching process.

I didn't mention it in the article, but something I may try for the next round w/ more cases is one of these numeric stamps, which should persist through several rounds of stainless steel tumbling:

(I know "microstamping" can trigger some folks -- calm down, this isn't that)

They're small enough to mark inside the extractor groove, but not as sloppy as an electric engraving pen.

Because...well, you know...that might change the weight of the case without changing the volume
