Ridiculous Primer Pricing

This stuff went on when Obama got in twice before. Some people just don't learn. All there doing now is whining because they haven't learned a damn thing about things that have gone on in the past.
I learned in 08 and am in good shape, I could load and shoot for several years at my current rate. The obama days is what drove me to reloading In the first place. I am not “whining” I only want to bring this to the attention of our fellow enthusiasts. Not sure if all are aware of what’s happening around us.

I'm still using primers that I bought for $13.50 a brick back in the early nineties. Last two times I bought primers I paid $23.00 per brick and earlier this year I paid $29.00. I also always buy full sleeves 5000 lg / sm pistol & lg / sm rifle. when I go to the gun shows.

It’s definitely less crowded at the range during these times.
Crowds are up at my local range. Normally I get together with one or two friends once a week and shoot rifles. Post election, there are always several more people shooting with us. None were deer hunters sighting their rifles. The question then becomes; where can I get ammo or better still, where can I buy primers? Seen this behavior a couple of times before in my life. Just smile and say I have no idea.
Percussion caps, You just discovered my hand loading inventory weakness.
I have had a brain cramp for the past few days. For the past 40 plus years, been going to my dealer and picking a calendar, every year at this time.. This year was told to come back next month. Got home, walked in the kitchen, looked at the calendar and it dawned on me. Remington prints these calendars, no wonder there are none. Guess it's not just primers.

I'm not judging or 'deriding' members here, but these primer threads have been illuminating.

I guess I just assumed a lot of folks were shooting more than they are; some of the reported primer consumption is lower than I would have expected.

I understand the whole 'placing limits' things to stop the guys trying to flip them at gun-shows, but just buying 1k of primers doesn't do a competitive shooter a lot of good. Same with the guys happy about a single 8lb keg.

I suppose if the alternative was not shooting I'd be happy, but generally unless I can get enough of a supply to burn a barrel out...I probably just wouldn't buy anything. What happens if you find a load that works lol? That's gotta be an emotional rollercoaster when you're about to run out and know you can't find it again.

That or just chamber up a barrel burner that's done in 1,000 rounds anyway.

Just picked up 5,000 CCI 450's up here in Canada for $76 Canadian per thousand. Seems to be the only items that are hard to find is Varget and 8208XBR. Lots of H4895 and most other powders are available. $376 Canadian for an 8 pound jug. Not as many reloading component consumers up here is probably the reason we still have components available.

I was searching online the other day and found a company with loads of powders and primers for sale. Thought I hit the jackpot. About 30 seconds later I realized it was a Canadian outfit...:eek:

Well the exchange rate looks to be .75 or 75 US cents to a Canadian dollar so 100 bucks to me is 130 Canadian so that 376 jug of powder looks to cost 290 US- Is that the normal going price?

Ya that border can be a pain for sure. We even have to import a steel tube with a hole through the middle of it from the states to Canada (Barrel)

Nope. Normal price for an 8 pound jug of powder a few months back was $286 Canadian. Primers are the same price now as then.
