I see its new for this year did anyone here go to the first match?
I've shot silhouette there a few years ago but haven't been recently

I shot both matches they've had, and what a blast! I think we had around 60 guns the first match. Just had a match this past Saturday. My guess is it's gonna to catch on pretty quick. With the current format, they can fit 160 guns. Those targets are tiny! I've been shooting the 1000 yard VBR version for the past 10 years and the 22LRBR version is awesome. No reloading and doesn't take your entire day up. It's a definite recommend for anyone with a .22. It's an ammo game for sure, as with any .22 sport.

I would say any gun over the "Standard Class" weight of 10lb 2oz would be "Heavy".

Since April was the first match, they shrunk the targets and came up with some new rules, but haven't updated the website. They added the Heavy class so guys with benchrest guns could come shoot it as well. I'm not aware of the other specs other than "heavier" than Standard class, i.e. forearm width, etc.. Contact the email in the rules pdf and they'll let you know any other specifics, but I don't think they want to turn anyone away, b/c the gun doesn't fit. I believe that may be a catch-all class then

Future matches are

June 26th
July 17th
August 28th
possible 2 day championship Sept 25 & 26

They are running 4 match time slots currently, with 10 benches and 4 relays (potential for 40 shooters per match). You shoot all 40 targets in about 20 minutes and reset your targets for the relay after you. So basically you can be done in less than 2 hrs, after target setting and scoring next relay obligations.

8:30AM
10 AM
1PM
3PM

are the available slots on a first come first serve basis, and you'll choose match times for 1st and 2nd preference.

June's registration should open up on or around the 1st, via internet registration

Other than standard smallbore rules for gun specs., you can opt to use their sandbag or attached bipod. Bipod does not count as rifle weight. No rear support bag, only hand and shoulder contact and stock must not touch bench. Other than that, you just show up and have fun!

Sounds good, I will definitely shoot them a email, the only 22's I have are a 2500x benchrest rifle a Vudoo in a Grayboe ridgeback and a Kidd 10/22 none of which fit either class on the website.
Thanks again for the info

Vudoo in the Ridgeback may be fine, just don't extend the cheekpiece, and as long as the forearm isn't more than 2.25"?

Same way with the Kidd 10/22. I saw a few 10/22's there. I think they are more concerned about the cheek part of the stock vs the bottom. Of course I'm not sure how to interpret the NRA stock rules, as long as the bottom of the stock (butt-plate) doesn't extend below (like a hook?) Those tactical or training stock's like a M4A or M5, etc that have the scoop for a rear bag, I believe to be ok. Remember you're supporting the rear of the stock with your shoulder/hand. Again, ask Anthony in the email, but they are pretty lenient as long as you don't have something that is giving you a clear advantage. The dang targets are small enough as it is, and I don't see many people running the course with clean 40's any time soon, so it's more about getting people to come now.

Your 2500x would probably fall under Heavy gun...

I'm sure you can bring any or all of them, you may even be able to shoot multiple gun classes, like Standard and Heavy with your current setups

I'm the rifle chairman at my gun club. We shoot silhouettes with air rifles now or should say, we will as soon as our new building is finished. This sounds like fun and something I might get some of the members interested in. Where can I purchase the targets that are being use?

Those targets were custom made by one of our club members. It simulates the 1000 yard Varmint Benchrest Silhouette matches that was uniquely created by our club over 11 years ago. People come from all over the country to shoot that unique centerfire longrange benchrest match. I'm pretty sure our club didn't want anything to do with this 22 match, to begin with, and it was all created with the time and money of a couple members that were hugely into the smallbore silhouette matches. It's growing huge now. Ridgway has hosted the NRA smallbore and high power silhouette Nationals for many years.

I'm not sure you could buy them, but you could always contact Anthony in the email listed in the rules above and ask.

It's a SUPER fun shoot, and those suckers are tiny. I have pictures to compare against the standard small bore silhouette sizes and it's quite humbling when you see the difference.

Im going to try it at our club using a set of 1/4" thick 1/10th scale air rifle silhouettes that I got from Quality targets, there pretty small I'm hoping the chickens don't get launched into orbit, Im going to use standard velocity ammo only.

Petey could you post the pictures

Keep in mind, these swingers are the larger "kids" targets. The ones we shoot are a 1/3rd smaller, but it gives you the idea. Next to a stadard small bore target. Take a look at the picture above with both sets of targets to see what I mean on size. Your correct on the targets flying. Those 40 meter crows can fly, so they put up little fences to help catch them. I've launched a few almost back to the 60 meter bank
We only allow SV, 1100fps or slower as well. Anything faster would beat up on the targets

There's a rail in front so you can't shoot the base, but notice the fence

This puts it in perspective.. Those swingers are shown here against the standard range.. yup, they are small and those are the "BIG" targets. This is 40-100meter range
