Revolver help? what am I wanting?

I would really consider looking around for a nice low milage model 27, one of the all time great 357 platforms.
I'm lucky, I 've still got my late 70's 6" Python but those seem to be going for stupid money.

you know ive always wanted a 45 LC to. Ive got a smith 45 acp revolver i should sell and get the LC. Anyway OP should get a 45 long colt also. Wifee will only be paying attention to the kid for awhile so why not-- of coarse she may start really paying attention if she sees three new smiths that drained 2K out of the bank account( better be discrete:D)

Like you Tim S, I have an old 6" Python and a 6" Diamondback in 22 LR. A trip to Cabela's gun library make me glad that I bought them a long time ago. Not to be a snob, I also have several Smith and Wesson's. Truly enjoy shooting them and feel lucky to have them. If only I was smart enough to have gotten a model 21 back then.

Invest in a (few) Freedom Arms 83 & 97 model revolvers w/ interchangeable cylinders when built & you'll NEVER touch a Ruger/Colt/Taurus/Dan Wesson handgun ever again.

Ive had a 460SW performance center, it was wonderfully built, LOVED THE FEEL AND TRIGGER! but it was too much horse power and no brake on it, misrible to shoot.

Ive shot 44 mag revolvers, not bad at all. I got a 44 mag lever gun, dies, and all.

just always wanted a 357. It has plenty power to kill a hog or deer. And snake shot is easier to find for it over a 44 mag. Really itd get the most use being carried at the ranch. I do have a leupold scope for a revolver already though if I wanted to hunt with it.

best option... a 357 and 44 mag both!

I aint hurtin for more rifles. So Im thinking about getting the revolver and handgun collection built up some over the next few years. Still need a 1911 45acp too!
You make caliber selection too easy: You have the brass & dies for the 44 mag..Since I purchased an S&W Classic [629?] with the underlug 5" barrel, my 357's sit in the safe..Mine received a trigger & time job from the performance center..I load it with a 240 grain plain base lead bullet & dirty old Unique powder...To less than 1000 FPS..I can't say enough good things about that revolver...At the range or in the field very dependable/accurate..Comfortable to shoot..You will not be disappointed..Mike in Ct

Don't rule out this model,... S&W 686+ 7 shot 7 inch barrel. This is my favorite wheel gun and is super accurate. Came new with laminate wood grips but they are way too nice to bugger them up so I installed the Hogue rubber round butt to square grip.686+.JPG
