Returning To Smallbore Prone

well i have ole Inez still in the wings right now.. that would be that Myers Suhl 250
and i would have to get a new front rest and rear bag.. speaking rear bags.. wonder.. if this is allowed

A mechanical rear rest is NOT allowed per F-SBR rules.
As for a different sling, I highly recommend the Thune ATL 2. I converted from an Anschutz leather sling last year (after 25 years with the same leather Professional model) and it was a definite improvement.
The Centra has a bad reputation for the material failing and the holes pulling out.

The thing i am thinking about right now, is my sling, i am wondering if i should replace it with a MEC or Thune?

Doc - looks like that old nylon sling might be ready for replacement. Can't go wrong with a Thune UIT II. Not sure who is selling them now that 10.9 closed their business. Hope this helps.

The Thune UIT 2 is a good sling. IME it takes a little tweaking so the cuff pulls symmetrically, moving Chicago screws as well as the buckle. I had one for a few years and foolishly sold it. Tried a Thune ATL and didn't get on with it; the micro adjusted was nice, but heavy.
The Creedmore no-pulse looks interesting. It's very similar to the Gehmann no-pulse, but cheaper. Sadly the 2in cuff means it's not legal for NSRA (or ISSF) competition.

I don’t believe that it is tired yet, but I do believe that there slings that will do a better job. I could hold 1/2 moa with it, but it never would stay in place and a lot of times slip off trying to get the coat on
Kurt Thune II is a great sling, especially if you are only shooting prone with it. If it were multi-positional then I would say MEC.

You could lower the strap on the jacket, so the sling sits on the hook, then bend the hook back to grip the sling. I bolted my sling to the keeper; no problems with the sling slipping while putting on the jacket, although the bolt has to be in the right place, so the sling pulls from the right direction.

Doc, you're go gonna need a good glove. The best I have used and is used by many top competitors is the Monard glove sold by Oberle enterprises. When you look at their sizing, understand that they run small. If you think a medium would fit, order an extra large. Robert Oberle is one hell of of a good guy. He sent me two gloves to fit, after the first one was too small. NO CHARGE! just return the ones that didn't fit. The Monard gloves are not cheap, but worth every penny and then some. They do not leave crap on your rifles forestock, they do not wimp out, Just excellent quality.

My favorite sling EVER was a Brenzovich: it was just the right balance of stiff but flexy, surprisingly comfortable, and granular-but-still-noticeable adjustments. But that got stolen along with the rest of my gear in 2015, and some quality control/customer service challenges with Brenzovich led me to look elsewhere for a replacement.
My current sling is a Hata Precision Synthetic sling (https://www.hataservices.com/precision--smallbore-rifle-slings.html). It's quite similar to the Kurt Thune II, but made in Hawaii by Yuji Hata, a fellow smallbore shooter and all around good guy. Only thing to know is that if you're tall and gangly like me it might be a hair short, depending on your position and where you like the sling. If I get another one I might see if he can make it a bit longer next time, but otherwise I'm pretty happy with it.
For gloves, I'll drop another vote for the Monard Proliner series that @velocette mentions. I have one each of the Proliner Prone and the Proliner Pro (with rubber), both half-finger. The fit is pretty much the same, but the Prone is stiffer: it has more Proliner material, and seems to do a better job in holding the gun in position. Both of them protect my wrist well, which is nice for those longer matches.
I'll second, too, that Mr. Oberle is a terrific guy to do business with, and I'm happy to continue to check his shop for my shooting needs!

The Pro liner is a good glove for prone. The cut is very similar to other brands, but the coating spreads the sling better, and goes all the way to the cuff. I think the padding is a little thicker than the Thune Solid.
The new Anschutz Concept looks to be similarly stiff, and is a bit cheaper than the Monard here in the UK. There have been reports that the sizing is very small, about two sizes small.
