Reticle vibration

Hi All,
I have Just bought a new dolphin aluminium modular stock for FO. I hit the range yesterday and got some vibration in my reticle.
It’s a 6BR built on a rem action with nightforce NSX scope, rail & rings. It was shot from a front rest and rear bag.
Have checked all screws to make sure there tight and torqued up to the right specs. . Any suggestions on how to fix the problem or has anyone had this problem before?

What exactly do you mean by "vibration" in your reticle? Do you mean that it will not hold Point-of-Impact?

I was wondering the same thing Ben.....

I've seen vibration before when the scope rail screws were loose!

The reticle vibrates. Not sure what's happening wether I'm getting vibrations through the new stock but everything seems to be bolted and torqued down fine. It holds point of impact fine. After I shot and I'm still looking throughout the scope the reticle looks like it's vibrating

That's a new one on me... Do you think it is because the stock is aluminum OR could it actually be an "optical illusion" of some sort. If the Point-of-Impact is not moving, neither is the reticle..

I notice it in dry firing practice, scratched my head at first and then started looking, the scope rings were tight to the rail and I couldn't feel any movement but once took the rings/scope off I could.

If you see the reticle vibrating something has to be loose, rings, base, scope innards.....something IMHO.

I don't think it's because it's an aluminium stock at all. I had 3 other shooters shot it as we'll and they where surprised as we'll. like I said I checked and triple checked all my screws.

Okay... Then this one is beyond me experience.. I get an "optical illusion" EVERY sunny day as the sun rises and splashes against my target, especially at 600 and 1000 yards. It "appears" that the reticle is moving, as in bending and drifting etc.. All it is, is the sun's rays coming off the target and causing my scope to LOOK like the reticle is moving. Maybe what you have is something similar>>> I just can not properly comment on this one..

Something is loose. In my case it was the scope. A quick trip to Leopold and the problem was gone.

I would have Night force look it over. Their turn around is really fast. Good service.

I chased my tail once with intermittent zero shifting/double grouping using an NXS. I had ruled everything out but the scope, which was so hard for me to believe.
Night Force looked at it found a bedding issue with one of the lenses, fixed it, and back to my door - in 3 days!
Problem gone,, lesson learned.

I have noted with a number of scopes, at higher mag, the mirage causing the reticle to appear to vibrate, the fact that your point of impact does not change--I think that is what you are seeing.

I would not hesitate to return it to the manufacturer. (the scope). If you can part with it for a bit. Without a shift in impact I have never experienced this but far the sake of peace of mind why not let them look it over?

Put the scope on another rifle and see what happens. Do you know what mirage looks like? At the lowest power does it change? Just some things to think about. Good luck

Do that. Also take the scope completely off and hold it by the tube and give it a quick tap with your knuckle and see if the reticle vibrates. You can also put a different scope on the same rifle and see if it happens again.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't NF reticles "laser etched" into the lens ? If so, then there are no wires to vibrate.

Thanks for the tips will try all suggestions and see how I go. I did have the rifle and scope on a wild dog stock for the last 6 months and had no problems. It only started happening once I made the switch in stocks

Just speculating but maybe the lense itself is loose.

Change the spacing of your scope rings.

Shouldn't matter what you put it in. A lens must be loose.

Send the scope back and have it checked.
