reticle choice in Nightforce

Would appreciate the input of veteran shooters regarding the best reticle in a Nightforce for 600-1000 yd. F-class competition.
Thanks

I use the NP-R2. I like the cross hairs since they do not cover up the target at a longer distance. I have software coming from Exbal for this scope. Besides other features, the software works with the power setting and distances to keep you on track. If I'm not mistaken, Exbal makes the software for Nightforce. The screen shots are the same.

For me the R-2 has too much going on...

I have the CH-1 and CH-2 and like them both equally for mid and long range shooting...

I have the DD reticle in both my 12-42 NXS scopes. If I were to buy another NF I would get the same reticle. Bill

I have two NXS scopes,3.5-15x50 & 5.5-22x50) w/ the NP-R1 reticle... works very well for tactical matches where holdoffs and/or ranging are involved. The R1 has twice as many hash marks as the R2, so if you think it's busy, you wouldn't like the R1... I tried the 5.5-22x in a match and attempted to do some holdoffs alternately using the hash marks or the scoring rings. Either way worked, but trying to combine the two got too confusing and ended up costing me a couple points...

I have a BR 12-42x56 w/ the 2DD... I like the single aiming point, seems to work fairly well for F-Class in general. A few friends have used it and said they about lost the dot in the mirage soup on the range that day.

I'm serious considering getting the 2DD changed out for a CH series reticle... probably a CH3, so I would still have an ultra-fine aiming point, but have traditional stadia for quartering the bull when the mirage gets so bad that I can't see the lines at all any more... a single dot floating in a whirling blur is kind of tough to really center up well.

Love my CH-3 reticle...

Green poll is 100 yds away, rain gutter is 120+ yds.
At 22X the distance from the dot to the line is 1 moa.
At 42x,almost double) the dot to line s/b approx. 1/2 moa.

Poor pic, taken thru the 1/8" gap in the blinds of my house!

If I had a reason to buy an NXS instead of the BR Model I'd opt for one of the CH reticles. I could custom order the CH for around $160 for the BR's but I'm cheap. My biggest complaint about Nightforce is they sell BR scopes and BR reticles but not together. Stupid....

Hey gunamonth,

Nightforce now offers the CH reticles in the BR line.,no extra charge) I bought an 8-32X-56mm BR with the CH-3 reticle a couple of weeks ago. I haven't shot the rifle yet.

With my poor vision, none of the Nightforce reticles are suitable for F-Class. I would like a 1/4moa dot floating with 1/8 moa crosshairs at 42x.

MLR for me. If you trained in using Mildots, then the MLR is even better.

+1

We play a lot of UKD games around here.
