Reticle Choice for Short Range Score?

I'm looking at getting a fixed 45X Sightron because of weight and I've been pleased with Sightron. Dot or fine cross hair reticle and why? Thanks for your input.

I like both in the same recticle. I use a fine cross hair and 3/32 dot for that discipline. The fine dot let’s me work my wind read within the 10 ring

Dot for my competition guns. I can find the dot quicker than fine crosshairs, although I have a 6x Burris Hunter Class scope that I seem to have to go searching for it -I think it shrank from sitting a few years. Moral- select the right size dot for your eyes.

Look at both in med/heavy mirage and see what you think......I prefer FCH, the dot seems to me like playing " Follow The Bouncing Ball "......But that may just be my screwed up, old arse eyes...o_O

Regards
Rick

I got some of them too with astigmatism to boot. Hard to keep a dot still but worry if I can find fine crosshairs. Thanks and keep it coming

I have a STAC 4-20X50 with the MOA2 reticle, and a Sightron SIII 10-50X60 with the fine cross hair & target dot.
I like both.
The SIII being better optically though.

I prefer the fine x hair this allows me to move to ether side of the 10 ring for hold off. 0.117 10 ring and see my x hair on the edge of the ring. I think a dot would make it difficult for such a fine hold off.

Well I finally got my Sightron 45X and went with the dot, but at 1/10 minute it is a really small one. You can aim to either side of 6mm bullet hole at 100 yards. The dot is enough to help me find it with my old eyes. I think I'm going to like it. Thanks for all the input and advice. Good shooting.
