Request Help with 6mmBR NORMA

I am in the process of having a 6BR Norma built. I have read a lot of articles on the subject and thought I could some up to date information on the subject.

Rifle will have a 1/8 twist barrel and will be 28in long. What I am looking for is a powder that will fill the case. Primer brand and type, bullet brand and weight and anything else you might want to add. I am not asking for load data but will be very happy to accept suggestions if offered.

I previously posted this but mistakenly inquired about 30 BR Norma and I doubt if there is such a cartridge. Thanks to JoshB, I took it down and reposted the proper inquiry.

RL-15 or varget is the powder you should start with.
95-105g Berger VLD
Lapua brass annealed after each firing
I use and prefer CCI 450’s but BR4 will work well too.

Yes there is such a thing as 30 BR Norma. The 6BR Norma is the parent case. Not to be confused with the 6BR Remington! An 8 twist 6BR is an excellent performer with 95-105 grain bullets. Trying to push 110-115g bullets is a bit much for the little case. A job better done with the 6X47 Lapua or 6 Creedmoor. Oh boy am I going to hear about this! LOL! Some excellent powders for the 6BR Norma are RE15, Varget, or N540. I would suggest you try all three. A .265"-.268" chamber neck works. I would lean toward the thicker neck. Also before selecting a reamer pick a bullet so you can have your reamer freebore tailored to it. One last thing I would favor the hybrid ogive bullets or tangent ogive bullets. VLDs are a thing of the past unless you have the perfect freebore but then you'll be married to it.

I shoot a 6 dasher modeled from the same 6BR parent case. I personally shoot a “no-turn” .271 neck with .104 freebore and it shoots lights out.

Then hold the "F" on. You have probably never seen the likes of what you are fixin' to shoot.

Literally put 30gr varget/rl-15/shooters world precision/203b/n140/n150/4166/4064/whatever else in that burn range under a 105 (103-108) class bullet and whatever primer you have laying around. Go from there.

Simple as.

I had great luck with Lapua Scenar 105s, Varget, CCI 450s. But I have a fast barrel that can shoot about 25 fps faster than most guys with 6BRs running 105s.
This must be my lucky night. I have four of the powders mentioned and plenty of it along with the primers.

Boss, I just ordered the Lapua Scenar bullets. I picked this round on your recommendation. If it is good for you then it will work for me.

I seriously suggest you look into the Berger 105g VLD

Why are VLD’s “a thing of the past”? Inquiring mind want to know.

I came across this 105 Scenar ladder I ran awhile back. Seemed like 29.9 was the high but shot ok at the low node also. (Shot at 200 yards)
