Replacing firing pin springs

Yes in the cocked position and on an empty chamber. I see people putting their rifles in the case in the cocked position and the spring is under more tension.
I hope you’re not agreeing with that method of reasoning in storing a cocked weapon. Just not safe! There’s always a possibility there could be a round chambered, very small but possible, secondly, those individuals are, as stated above, are causing tensile strength loss of the firing pin spring. Safety first, last , and always!

Aim small! Later!

I've got Remington rifles built off 700 and 40X actions. Most of these actions are 45yo. I assume that some new springs may be a good idea. What tool do you recommend and where is the best place to buy replacement springs?

Should have said uncocked position.

Music wire spring like Kelblys uses wear out fast and should be changed often. Or at least checked often. But the chrome silicon springs like Bat and Borden use do not.

As an aside, I ordered a couple of FP springs from Bat for my Model B (purchased in 2016, I think.) The new springs were substantially shorter than the original. A quick phone call and they said yeah, that's the new style spring and there's nothing to worry about.
