Rental house shack

renters moved out recently and as I was cleaning up found this. A storage shed turned into a deer stand. The guy asked me about hunting deer behind the house and I said ok.
Ironing board for a rest. Pivot cut out window. you just never know.

I saw a small travel trailer on poles about 10 ft. high, used as a deer stand. Thought it was a bunch of work, but hey, fridge, stove, bed, and bathroom in one place and you don't have to get up early to sneak to the deer stand!!

Out west, we call that "deer shooting" and not "hunting". We actually get out on our hind feet and hunt, not sit in some silly shack waiting for some unfortunate deer to wander by.
“Silly shack?” Would this be classified as one of those “snarky” remarks?
With regards to him harvesting deer. I think he did kill a few.. Housing developments are going up all around this property and the poor deer are getting pushed out all around. It is sad really. Two nice bucks were killed in front of this house hit by a vehicle back in November. I cut the head off one.

Given that 90% of my State of KY is privately owned, and the WMAs get tons of pressure; I don't have much in the way of options to hunt my 8.5 acres. I have food plots, and enjoy watching the Deer as much as I do eating them. My neighbors like my food plots too, as two of them have stands on my fence line. They have taken a few of the Bucks that frequent my plots as they cross their property to get to mine. They both own over 100 acres on each side of me.
Such is the plight of the small land owner.

Sweet story bro ...

PS Biggest buck I ever Harvested was shot from my bedroom window . Last minutes of the season...now that's a true deer story. To think, I would have missed him if I was out wondering around like you you do . Actually I was in the woods all day, pretending I was out west ...on my hands and knees with my trusty Bowie knife clenched firmly in my teeth waiting for a deer to wander by.

Don't you just love it when people judge you by THEIR standards. Not everybody lives out in the wide open "out west". Some of us live where you can't see ten feet in front of you for the jungle or laurel thicket brush and have to set up on the outer edges and wait for game to come out. Like has been said some of us only have a very small plot of land to hunt on also. Some live in the flat as a board land and by law can not deer hunt with a rifle unless you are at least eight feet off the ground in a stand so you will be shooting downward to lessen the chance of killing someone over on the next farm. Some are handicapped and can't walk all over creation, should they not be allowed to sit in a place to shoot a deer? As the old Indian said, "Walk a mile in my moccasins before you judge me."

You got to admit, they show creativity and they are all functional.
Wonder how he got that trailer up there. It is pretty high. Looks like he has set it up to add a porch. Could be he lives in flood area and needs to get it up high.

Who knows the story behind some of these. But I do appreciate the thought that went into them.

Come on guys he's a real hunter, didn't you notice the bag of corn on the floor of the shack, I'll bet he wasn't feeding chickens. BTW I would never hunt in that situation but the reply to the western hunter comment was spot on.

Corn is legal in SC.. And, yes it was for deer.. No chickens.. haha... I found empty corn cobs in a clearing in the woods about 60 yards in the woods.. He did break several laws.. ( If he actually did harvest a deer / not sure he did) Rules State: Must be 10' off ground when hunting within 300 yards of a residence..
