Removing Case Lube

I've been using Imperial Sizing Die Wax for several years now and it does a great job.....I have been using a soft paper towel to wipe the wax off the cases and its very slow and time consuming....I was wondering if any of you have a quick and easy method of getting the wax off the cases after you have sized them?????

FWIW, I use RCBS water soluble lube on a pad. I gave up on one shot for precision work because the stuff gets into the case mouth in uneven amounts from case to case. Being water soluble, I wipe each case with a damp facial towel.

Take all your lubricated brass, and drop it into the tumbler. Use corncob media, and it'll come off in 15 minutes.

I use Ballistol in the aerosol can. I've tried 6 or 7 other lubes and this is my favorite. Goes on clear and thin and is very slippery. Wipes off very easily--just the handling of the case after sizing is usually enough to clean the case off--but I usually do wipe off the cases with a paper towel before shooting.

Thank you very much for all the help. At the risk of exposing my ignorance, what is Ballistol? Where can I find some ? What is it normally used for? Thanks again for all the help...

Ballistol is a gen'l purpose lube/cleaner that is 100% non-toxic. It is popular with Black powder shooters because it is based on pine oil, not petroleum.

It even has antiseptic properties. It ain't much of a solvent, but it WILL clean the carbon off your case mouths. I just spray a little on my fingertips coat the case, then wipe the neck with a patch.

I use a small stainless steel bowel with just enough lacquer thinner to cover 1/2 way up the shoulder or 1/2 way to the primer pocket when the case is laying on its side.

The bowel will hold about 10-12 cases and clean case lube quickly. I wipe the cases and necks off with a paper towel.

Fast, clean and gets rid of dust and dirt also.

I do the same as ASA but I add a cap full of Mineral Spirits. Five minnutes in the cement mixer witout the paddles, then dump to the screens. My brass looks like factory new brass. For 100 pieces or less I use a vibratory machine.

Thanks to everyone for all the great advice and words of wisdom....Moderator, I think I'm going to try some of the Ballistol and I called today to place an order.Kitty Hawk isn't very far from me here in NC...Thanks again to everyone....George

I load on progressive press, when theyre all loaded I wash them in a coffee can with carbo-clor or laquer thinner, pour them into a sieve, let them dry and box them.

Hey Paul: Something to think about.Lacquer thinner is pretty "thin" stuff and will get in to places you might not expect. If you drop a loaded round in the thinner, it could get past the bullet onto the powder.Found a loaded round that I had left outside over night and the dampness from fog got to the powder and made it clump. Wiping each round off with a rag and thinner might be a better choice. Just thinking.;)

Has anyone tried Acetone to wipe lube off with??? Or, to just drop your sized cases in a can of Acetone>>> I have had a couple of individuals, that I would consider very knowledgable, to recommend it>>>>>>>??????? Any thoughts??

I use RCBS Case Lube-2. It's comes off with water so after the cases are resized they go in a pot of warm soapy water and into the oven to dry.If I'am just doing a few, Brake Cleaner, thinner or anything handy will get the lube off.

I use Denatured Alcohol....dump them in a mayo. jar, shake them around for 30 seconds, dump them in a strainer, place on an old towel to air dry....DONE...:thumb:
