I neck turned 100 pieces of .220 Russian brass, using Imperial lube inside the necks. I have already primed them and my powder is sticking to the walls of them. Do you have any suggestions for removing the lube ?
Mike
Lesson learned.I've had reasonto remove live primers from cases. I did it carefully and slowly. Never had one go off. I even reused them with no failures to fire. Next time, always tumble after turning and sizing.
My necks are turned to .0085" and I really would rather not put them through a tumbler.Dry tumble and you won't lose the primer, Anything wet like acetone or white gas and those primers need to be replaced, or the Q-Tip as mentioned above
I used a Qtip with lacquer thinner,
Q-tip or bore mop.
I have never tried to remove Imperial with any solvents. I just always wiped it off with a cotton cloth, or tumbled them in corn cob media. So I don't know what solvents will remove Imperial. Since it is more of a wax, wiping it off is probably best.
Did the guy in the video recommend it for sizing or turning the necks? Never have used it turning necks. Have always used Imperial. Thanks to the OP. I think your post taught me why the guy in a video I just watched 2 days ago recommended dry neck lube. He never said why. From all the responses it sounds like a lot of people “been there, done that”.

That's much different than turning.Sizing
