Removing a burr in chamber

I have a burr in my 223 Ackley chamber near the shoulder. It's causing hard extraction even under light loads. Is there a "home-remedy" for this or do I need to take it to a gunsmith?

Thanks.

You could use a wood dowel wrapped with 320 wet and cutting oil to take the shape of the chamber and GENTLY have at it... Go slow and check often....
If it's a bad burr you may need a gunsmith to run a reamer into the chamber, but for perfection it would need to be set back a tiny bit... All reamers are not the same...

I had a bit of metal left in a chamber by the factory and unfortunately fired the rifle with it in there. Nasty! Basically welded to the corner of the shoulder. Rented a reamer from 4D Products (google "reamer rentals") and carefully turned by hand until it JUST touched the shoulder. It cleared but I agree that it would have been better to set back a thread and recut. These days I make darn sure I clean the chamber area regularly!

If it is a projection into the chamber it can be removed, but if it is a gouge in the chamber wall, you'll have to recut the chamber. I carelessly let a chip spin in the reamer that cut a groove in the chamber wall that prevented easy extraction.
