Remington varmint special

We all had a steel match last night and my dad wanted me to bring a 6mm the only one I have is a 1968 varmint special so I told him I would like to not shoot it and keep it tucked away. Well in our match I had to sit the 6mm course out while everyone else had a good time. My dad came up to me after the hole deal and told me " you need to decide whether your a shooter or a collector". So I am just going to test the waters and see what my 6 can bring and if there is any interest in it, also I had a thread on here about turning it into a Ackley but I think she needs a home so I can build a 6 I will shoot. I can't upload pictures on here for some reason but I can text, email, or if you go to LRH it's over there under rifles bullets and ballistics. ..thanks

Nice rifle!
Is the bluing a little thin at the muzzle? Also, is that a brown spot on the barrel I see in that close up?

Ya it's got a spot on the barrel from the safe..and I don't think the bluing thin..I will have to look at it today ..I don't get it out much..lol

Shoot what you want to shoot and don't shoot what you don't want to shoot, it's simple.

Sounds like your dad burned you on that shoot. Well we should call a spade a spade he lied to you. To the haters a lie of omission is still a lie.

We have a 6mm only match so if you want to shoot it... could have been added.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to keep a rifle nice. Most of us here have a rifle we hardly shoot for one reason or an other. I have a rem pump in 308 that I never fire just wipe it down, oil it, and think of my Grandfather.

Ya I like having the rifle I in my safe bit I LOVE shooting the 6mm round a lot and would love to build one ..so I'm thinking sell it and build!..

Here's a personal one of mine that (fortunately) didn't sell:

Looking at the GunBroker links, at the asking prices I see a guy would have a fair start on a build using a 700 LA beater. That'd be a good start on a 6mm Rem. or 6mmAI build. No offense to those who value the originals to that degree.

don't see that gun bringing really any kind of premium...sell it or shoot it

1++

I own one built in 1967 chambered in 243 with the heavy bull barrel and a Unertil 12X scope. We shoot her!!!

At a small gunshop in PA, I saw a Model 78 in 30-06 for $350, a cheap long action donor. There's one on GB for $325.
