Good evening everyone. This post comes from Italy. I would like to ask you for advice. Remington pcr vs ruger precision rifle in 6.5 creedmoor. The shorter 6.5 Creedmoor will have shorter barrel rifle because you will have to use faster powder. If you are not reloading ammo yourself the 260Win will give you more choices of ammo then the 6.5 Creedmoor.

260 and 6.5 Creedmoor are essentially the same in ballistics and barrel life. If you do not load ammunition, 6.5 Creedmoor has more choices of ammunition.

If you are in the USA, they are better choices of rifle than Remington or Ruger. If you are outside the USA, the selection may be limited.

Wow, you sound very authoritative. I assume you shoot both of these calibers and you're speaking from experience?

I have shot and reloaded for both.

I have no complaints with my Gen 1 RPR in .243 Win. My only issue with the current version is that it only comes in the two Creedmoor and 308 Win.

If I were looking to buy one of these today, I would choose the Remington. I like the stock better and the fact that there are more and better triggers available. The 260 Remington chambering is just icing on the cake.

I see that you like the tactical look.

IMO the Remington PCR is definitely the best of the two. I would further advise you to consider the 260 winchester instead of 6.5 creedmoor. The 260 shoots all the same bullets as the 6.5 Creedmoor but has a slightly longer body that gives it more powder capacity. You'll need it for the 1000+ yards.

I agree with you. i also love the .260. reload but the 260 is not yet imported in Italy.

now at 1000mt I shoot with .308 and 6.5x47 with excellent results. I know that the 6.5x47 and the creedmoor are very similar, but I'm curious about the new pcr remington. I hope that the .260 will arrive soon in Italy, or even better the 6.5 prc of the hornady

Remington's quality has been going downhill for quite a awhile. I would not let a friend buy a Remington. Can you get Howa or Bergara rifles? The Tikka T3 is one of the factory best rifles.

Between 260, 6.5 creed and 6.5x47; I prefer 6.5x47

this will be my first remington rifle. all born in USA! with optical mark5hd. I like the tikka a lot but in Italy it has a higher cost than the remington of about 1000 euros.

Really I don’t think you could go wrong with either rifle as they both offer a 24” 1:8twist threaded barrel. Depending on if you are just going to shoot the rifle as is or want to change things around the ruger will offer more options for the guy wanting to do the work themselves rather than having a smith do the work. I’ve not owned that particular Remington but the company is known for its long barrel throats and can be difficult at times to seat bullet close to the lands and still be mag fed if you reload.

As for the debate of .260 vs 6.5 they are ballistically identical. If you reload you can squeeze out roughly and extra 50fps with the .260 but typically it doesn’t hold the accuracy at that speed and have to back the load off anyways. If you’re shooting factory ammunition the 6.5cm is the way to go as there is far more choices of factory loads. Both stay super well past 1000 yards and use the same projectiles.

If you ever need help from customer service, Ruger is always there to take care of you, usually at no charge to you. Remington? Not so much.

I have to agree with Ruger having superior customer service. Personally, the Ruger‘s “Savage-like” barrel system, is a selling point also. I like the ability to change the barrel myself, and control headspace accurately and easily, with simple tools.

I was raised a Remington Man. But, as things now stand, for a factory action, it’s Tikka T3 and never look back.
