Evening fella's, I don't play with Remington rifles much and well pretty sure I picked up someones Redheaded stepchild! I did know it had some problems but hey what better way to learn these things. First off the bolt took a mess of effort to close as well as a total pia to extract brass, checked with a Go gage and it was about .003" too short..... hand reamed and cured the hard to close issue but the primary extraction was still not there. This rifle is 100% box stock so I'm going to say Remington let this one skip the test fire station!
When I push the bolt forward I get a .023-.025" gap and when it's pulled back it's a gap of .038-.040" so I'm pretty sure I know what the cause is but I also know my limitations and soldering is not a stong point of mine so thought I would ask your thoughts and opinions on ways to correct this but I'm pretty sure I'll need to find someone who I can have correct the bolt handle being if I recall the gap should be around the .010-.015" area, with the knowledgeable folks here maybe someone could point me in the right direction?
Thank you in advance for the help and advice you can offer.
