Remington bolt isue

Attached are 2 photos of a Remington bolt with an unusual issue. In photo 1 just to the right of the ejector is a rivet head that is no where near right. This is preventing the chambering of a round. In photo 2 you can see where the rivet was driven in and then an attempt at making it flush. The main issue is inside. A case really drags and the bolt will not close on the case. Can someone shed light on why this is like this? And, can that be punched out or drilled with out causing issues with the bolt?

Thank you gentlemen for your advise and direction!!

Looks like there is alot of wear on that bolt- how many rounds have been fired before now? Did you recently change brass and maybe the case head is just a bit bigger?

Have a new rivet properly installed, from your picture it appears that the rivet is protuding into the case head area. As far at the outside it is ugly but it will not hurt anything, put a little cold blue on it so that you don't have to see it every time you look at the bolt. It appears to be an amateur job by someone who didn't know what he was doing.

Has this been rebarreled lately ? It looks as if the front of the lugs are contacting the barrel.

I'm not sure what has happened but this bolt has a lot of rounds on it and it is clear from the photo that the rivet hasn't moved.

If you want a new extractor installed, I can turn that around in less than a week. $140 including return shipping.
