Remington 770 trigger adjust

I have a Remington 770 in 30-06 caliber with a very rough trigger. There is heavy pull, creep and slack in it that I would like to get out. I've worked on triggers for other weapons systems including rifles and pistols so I am not unfamiliar with the working principles. However I am not familiar with the 770 trigger. Is it the same as the Remington 700?
What can be done to the trigger to eliminate the drag and creep and get it down to 3-4 lbs pull.
