Working a 700 trigger...problems

I have a remington 22-250 and I started working with the trigger. The factory pull was 5.5 lbs and had two spots of creep in it. I have been able to get the trigger to break like glass at around 2 - 2.5 lbs but when if I slam the bolt excessivly hard to fires. I incresed the trigger pounds and it still slamfires. Does anyone have any tips, recomendations, or instructions on how to properly set a rem trigger. I will appreciate any input that is provided.
thanks a million.

go to www.varminthunters.com click on the technical section. The info on adjusting the Remington trigger is there.

PAshooter20br, you will most likely have to leave a little more pressure on that top screw. When you turn it in until the trigger falls back it out another 1/4 or 1/3 turn. That should work for you. Then adjust the two bottom screws per the instructions. Bill

Is your Remington a New model or old model. If it id and old model the trigger can be adjusted. If it is a new model send it back to Remington or get an aftermarket trigger. Remington was sued a few years back and they have changed their triggers. The new triggers are are not user friendly and the locktite they use is much more of the perminent type. I trie bot solvents and heat to break free the rear allen screw. Just last week I snapped a .050 allen wrench off trying to loosen the rear adjusting allen screw. Remington's new trigger is another step backward in their tumble from the top. I have been surprised that they have not changed the hole alignment in their acctions just to deter aftermarket trigger use.
Get your trigger fixed or repaired as it is not safe.
