Remington 722 enthusiasts

For those of you with knowledge in the older Remington rifles. What made the 722 BDL's unique? Did they have different stocks, jeweled bolts, recessed Pachmayr sling swivels, etc....

Also, were all of Remington's bolts engraved with at least a portion of the serial number on the receiver?

Thanks for the help.

722 ADL- similar to 722 but with deluxe checkered wood
722 BDL-similar to 722 ADL but features extra select wood
I doubt they have any extras like engraving as the premium cost over basic models is not reflected in the list price.
From the 2022 Blue Book

Same here. Maybe the book is wrong. They should be very rare but the prices don't reflect that- $800 for BDL in 100% condition.

I MAY have seen one. He was selling it as such but I didn't go for it. It had exceptional wood in the stock but I had a pretty good eye on me that said it had been refinished. I still wish I'd have bought it.

That looks similar to the ,222 I was looking at. Its been a long time and it was a little higher than a 722 but the wood probably made it worth it.
I still wish I had bought it. One of my many mistakes!

VERY NICE GUN and the history is very cool. Gary

I’ve seen quite a few 722’s, but never a factory original in the fancier grades. Certainly seems they made them, just not common. Butch’s rifle is beautiful IMO, but looks to be a base model, with the exception of the floorplate, and the wood of course is not the way most came. Also, the rear sight is different. Most came with a ramp rear. Being as it was Mike Walker’s, it may not have been consistent with production models. That’s a treasure…a deer slayer.
