REMINGTON 700EXTRACTOR REPLACEMENT QUESTIONS

Guys,
I took my Remington 700 in .300 RUM out this morning, it has thousands of rounds fired through it. It would not pull fired cases out today, I know this load is not a hot load. I'm sure the extractor is probably the culprit. A couple of questions I have are replace with factory style? Claw style? And if claw style would the smith need the bolt and the action to complete the changeout? I honestly don't know anything about them except it sucks when it won't extract.

I appreciate any information you all may share.

Rem 700 bolts are really easy to disassemble and repair youtube has all the vidios on how to. BUT if you are not mechcanically incined take it to a smith!

Thousands of rounds fired through it tells me it is an older 700 action with a RUM chambered barrel attached. Most likely it has a rivet style extractor that has cracked at the rivet. This will cause the extractor to slip over the case rim.

Yes, a repairman will preferably want the bolt and action to return it to factory spec or machine in a claw style extractor.
