Win 70 push feed extractor spring replacement

Hi, the bolt on my 7mm WSM doesn't extract the cases. It's push feed, not the controlled feed claw. I think the spring under the extractor might be broken. How does it come off? Thanks

Obtain a 1/16" pin punch or similar tool. Put it, the bolt and both hands inside a plastic bag. Push the punch thru the hole in the extractor and depress the plunger underneath. Slide the extractor off the bolt face by pushing sideways( either direction) on the pin punch. The plunger and spring will likely fly out. That's why you need a bag.

Thanks Dave and RWO, I fixed it with a paper clip. I pushed the paper clip in and nothing. I tried again and I felt spring tension, then pulled the paper clip out. I didn't have to remove the extractor. Now I don't have a warm fuzzy feeling that this won't happen again so I'm taking a friends advice and plan to carry the paper clip with me every time I take the gun out. Thanks again for the replies.paper c.jpg paper c.jpg

I’d take it apart and clean it and check to see why it hung up in the first place. Might just be dirt or it could be something else like the parts have rust making it hang that could be polished.

That'd probably be better than caring a paper clip around with ya'.

Dave, took it apart, all looked Ok, cleaned it up including the hole in the lug (which I think is a bad design) put a drop of oil on all affected parts and put it back. Thanks
