Remington 700 triggers

I see some very expensive Remington triggers. I have read about Jewell triggers and can go down to two oz safely. Are the Canjar, Bix'n Andy or others any better than a Jewell. If they are better what makes them a better trigger. I have never owned a Jewell or any other nice trigger other than AR platforms and Savage basix 2 triggers which are good but not great. I am building a Haverkamp and trying to get advice from you guys on this. Thank you for any reply.

Benchrest-F-class, I wouldn't use an OZ's trigger for hunting. Maybe some do but I would not Sir. Sorry for not putting that in the post

When dry firing with the jewel versus the bix and andy. The bix is a better trigger but for f-class I cant really say anything other than the jewel being a fine choice as I have about 8 of them now and enjoy them a lot. During dry fire not touching the stock the bix barely moves the rifle. The jewel will impart only slight movement and if you are shooting off a bipod the extra cost isn't worth it to me.

Thanks John I that's what I was looking for. Just wasn't sure if the extra dollars for the "other than jewell" triggers were worth the extra cost. Some are close to 500 dollars kinda spendy for a trigger. Thanks John Solid and to the point advice as always.

I'd like to hear more opinions on the BnA triggers, as to WHY some owners feel they are better than the Jewell. You read several references as to owners singing their praises, but what EXACTLY makes them perform any better than the Jewell? Is it lighter pull, less sear pressure on the cocking piece, etc.? If it's significantly better, I'll buy one and try it, but if the only reason I hear is somewhat subjective, it's really hard to make myself spend that much for a trigger, or to recommend my customers to do the same. I can't, with a clear conscience, tell my customers that a product is worth more based on anything less than real cause and effect.

I use CG 2 stage trriggers and they are awesome. on a whim I decided to try a bix n andy set at one lb. its the best single stage trigger ive ever used.....still in my rifle. it breaks very very cleanly. the trigger weight is perfectly consistent. the trigger is essentially sealed. this came in handy when I had powder spill into my action.....nothing got in the trigger. ive used jewells also and they are great. if money is no object, I pick the bna

I use Shilen Competition triggers in all my bench rest Shooters. I've never had any trouble with them fouling or misfiring so I've never tried anything different. The competition trigger is adjustable from 2 oz. to 6 oz. and the standard shilen trigger is adjustable from 1 1/2# to 3#. I've got four shilen competition triggers. When you get your Haverkamp action mark the front and back of the trigger hanger so you install the trigger in the right way or your firing pin will have a short strike, ask me how I know. +2 on the kelbly trigger. Might have to splurge and find an F class panda to put on it! FWIW I put a 2-6 oz basix on my remington while it gets dual f class/varmint use. Its a great trigger for the price I think.

Lbart I love all my Kelbly gear also but I do not own one of their triggers. Have you used yours in Raton yet? If so did you clean it at night?

First off you'll need to make the decision whether you want a 2,3 or 4 lever trigger group.

Secondly you'll need to make another decision whether you prefer a single stage or two stage trigger group.

A Canjar "set" trigger wouldn't be a consideration in my book.

IMO the BixNAndy is the best. Why? Because they don't slam fire and they have the lowest spring pressure on the top lever which should help ignition. You can not safely use a Jewell at its lowest adjustment. The Bix will go so light and you can slam that bolt closed fast and it wont go off. With my Jewells I always have to give them a bit more sear and spring than I'd like so them wont click off. I always had Jewells and they are good, but the difference in how light the Bix can go is surprising. I am happy with the Kelbly as well.

If, your properly adjusted trigger group will allow a slam fire you have other than adjustment issues!

Exactly, my properly adjusted Jewells are way heavier than my properly adjusted Bix. Set to where I'd like it for free recoil, it slam fires if you slam the bolt closed hard.

I have always been a Jewell trigger fan. I have 5 or 6 of them on rifles now. This past summer I bought a Bix N Andy from a buddy of mine that is a dealer for them. It will adjust incredibly low - lower than I want or feel comfortably with. It is also every bit as crisp as a Jewell if not more crisp and is very consistent.

I shot mine at the F-Class Nationals and it worked perfectly set at about 1.5 oz. I have about 1500 rounds shot with the Bix N Andy without a single problem but only time will tell about durability. My Jewells have always been dependable - as long as I keep them clean with lighter fluid.

I also have 4 shooting buddies shooting them in F-Class and they all are very impressed with them. I believe they are a better trigger - I just don't know if I can justify the cost for the minute difference between the two. I paid $398 for my Bix and Andy and my last Jewell was $179.

Chris, that how I feel. For a free reciol gun I think they are worth it. For anything that you want a little more weight I like the Kelbly. I like Jewells in my hunting rifles.
