Remington 700 Clone options

Aside from Barnard....who makes a 3 lug repeater or single shot action that is made on the Remington 700 footprint?

Some other clones are far from perfect in more ways than one!!

The Stiller P-1000 has a 700 footprint for good stock and trigger selection if that's what your concern is. Supposed to be a very nice action. A good bit cheaper than a Barnard too. But only comes in a RB, LP, RE format. Don't know if that fits your needs or not.

Just to be clear, none of the Barnard actions are a "Remington clone." Remington stocks do not work with it. I think Barnard makes some awesome actions and bought their model S single shot. I then sold it once I learned no Remington stocks fit it. Defiance makes Remington "clones" that will use Remington triggers, stocks, extractors, ejectors, firing pins, etc....that is what defines a "clone" to me.

Scott, I have a Barnard SM in a Manners MCS T5A Rem 700 stock. Its not an exact clone of the Rem 700 but has the same footprint and diameter to fit in Rem stocks. The Barnard requires a custom recoil lug that allows fitting into a Rem stock as the model S and SM action is 10mm longer past the front action screw. A lug can be made out of hard stainless (440) that sits back under the action to come into contact with the recoil recess available in Rem 700 stocks. Its a pity Barnard dont make this recoil lug and offer it for sale! The action screws line up perfectly in standard Rem stocks you just need to visit the gunsmith for a custom recoil lug. The Barnard action comes with 2 recoil lug pin holes and its worth getting a smith to attach the lug with 2 dowel pins. Barnard could have made the S and SM actions a lot more Rem 700 stock friendly and provided a recoil lug and trigger to suit, but its been left upto the individual to work out the detail to make their actions fit.

I've got John Pierce short action repeater and it fit perfectly in to a Bell & Carlson stock for a Remmy 700. The Jewel trigger mounted right up as expected. His actions are very affordable.
