Remington 700 and 721 compatibility

A quick question about what bolts will work in a Remington 721 - I realize the bolt handle and shroud look different, but my question is for a complete bolt assembly. So far I’ve read only a 721 fits a 721, only 721‘s and old 700’s without the extra groove in the locking lug work together, and finally all 700’s will fit the 721.

This is one of the rare times in my life a long action 700 bolt isn’t handy to simply try in the 721.

Thanks

Shouldn't have to walk very far to run into one....
It still surprises me how a brand can go from king of the hill to rarely seen so quickly. All the cool kids I hang out with only want a Tikka or the latest investment cast receiver with plastic stock, and all their parents spend $2k for a Spanish Remington copy, or $3k for an over priced American copy. When I mention long action, especially Remington long action, that puts me squarely in the old duffer category. Just mentioning 721 is like talking about the invention of fire or the first wheel. :)

The angle of the bolt handle is different between a 700 and 721, so a little stock whittling may be required.
The 700 bolt will work in the action though.
if you still have the old bolt, def worth getting it repaired or bushed and a mini 16 extractor installed, the extractors for 721's /722's in 308 and magnums are hard to find and expensive.
