Remington 600 trigger in a 700

after shooting off my joy pod for the first time my 1.5 pound trigger feels like the heaviest thing in the world.

I found a really good deal on a Timney benchrest trigger but it is for a Remington 600. I searched the threads and I only found people asking about using a 700 trigger in a 600 receiver and stating that they don’t fit. So my main question is will a trigger designed for the 600 work in a 700?

Also I am new to BR triggers, this one has no safety and no bolt stop. So does that mean when I cycle the bolt it will come directly out of the receiver without needing a release button?

My bud just tried that and it failed. From what I hear the upper sear on a Timney is designed to give slightly less firing pin fall so as to provide a little less cock on close, and this is worse on the 700 using a 600 designed trigger. He experienced 75% fail to fire, and Timney refunded because they could not find a longer upper sear to retrofit. Good service.

I see Rifle Basix now offers a BR trigger in the 2-6oz range. Try it and give a review!

Glad you have that information! I will have to look into it

The absence of the release button means you will need to stick something thin between the action and stock to push down on the the release. Otherwise the bolt will not come out.

So I have a Rifle basic on one of my savages but it’s been quite a few years since I’ve ordered one. So far I’m extremely happy with their service ordered it and they had it packaged with a shipping label within 13 minutes. I’ll come back here once I’ve got a few hundred rounds on the trigger

I've seen triggers listed for a 600 and 700 and wondered why, that said people use 700 triggers all the time in rear grip XP100's which the 600 is based off of so I'm surprised a 600 trigger won't work in a 700.

It fits fine in the 700. I'm learning the top sear lengths are different between trigger brands, and the cocking piece lengths vary between 700 clones. No standardization in this regard, and a few thou matters.

The trigger lever (where your finger rests) is at the front of the housing on a 600 and at the rear of the housing on a 700 or 40X. The pivot point is in the same location; as is everything else. The bolt stop button does not exist on the 600. The hand off of the cocking piece should be the same but there is a lot of variation in Remington actions anyway.
I cannot speak to the use of a Timney trigger for the 600 on a 700 because I have never tried doing so, and don't have one in the shop to try. WH

Pick up a Shilen trigger or try to find a Jewell. Ive gotten lucky on ebay picking up shilen trigger cheap because they didn't know what they were. You need to know what they look like to get the deal, but its not difficult.

Today I shot using my new Shilen trigger for the first time. It was slick! Now I need to get accustomed to the light pull. We just did the last Jewell we could find on my buds rifle, and this is just as nice. Yes its a 700 clone.

I ended up ordering a Rifle basix trigger 2-6oz on Friday, it was delivered today and I got it installed. On the package it says 1.5 pounds to 4 pounds. I did confirm the sticker was a miss print with my trigger pull gauge it comes set from the factory at 2.5 ounces

Feels really good in the gun and much better than my previous trigger at 1.5lbs.

It replaced a timney and my only real complaint is after the trigger breaks there is a lot of play back-and-forth, on the Timney it stayed rocksolid after the trigger break I have a jewel on hand but that is for another gun that is not ready yet

I’ve got a lot of dry firing to do before my local match next ThursdayIMG_2457.jpeg
