Remington 600 trigger swap to 700?

I'm considering rebuilding one of my 600's into a lightweight mountain rifle. Was thinking a McMillan CF stock with a short Proof barrel. Since the McMillan can be cut for the standard ADL bottom metal does anyone know if the 600 trigger can be swapped out for a 700? The 700 trigger will fit, but it sits too far back in the 600 trigger guard in the factory stock.

I know Timney makes a 600 trigger, but I have several 700 triggers (including a Timney) gathering dust.....and I really want another Jewell.

they are not the same. I do not remember what the difference is, but I remember wasting a bunch of time trying to make/find out if it would work

A while back I cut the trigger on one of mine and moved it to the right location, and silvered it back together, never has a problem doing it..

The 600 has a shorter rear tang. The rear tang screw keeps you from using the 700 triggers. The 600 screw hits the back of the 700 style trigger housing.
