Remington 580/540 Hornet Conversion

I am considering a conversion of a 541T-HB to .17 Ackley Hornet,Yes, I realize collectors are gasping). There are a couple centerfire bolt conversions available but they all seem to be based around the smaller 5mm case. With the larger dimensions of the Hornet case, I have to assume that further modifications to the action are necessary. I'll be shooting single shot, so magazine feeding isn't an issue. Here's a few questions:

- Do the rimfire extractors function?
- Will the bolt throw have to be increased?
- Will the ejection port need to be lengthened?

I imagine there are other factors that I haven't taken into consideration. For those who have done this conversion, please share any knowledge and experience. I'm all ears!

Thanks!

Tom

Please let us know what you find out. I have been contemplating a similar build for a couple of years. One of the 5mm actions might be a better candidate.
